Sleep Outpatient Clinic

The Sleep Outpatient Clinic of the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel (UPK) is one of three sites of the Centre for Sleep and Chronomedicine of the Basel University Hospital network. This is a collaboration between UPK, the University Hospital Basel (Pulmonology), the University Children’s Hospital Basel (UKBB), and the Centre for Chronobiology.

We provide assessment of the full spectrum of sleep disorders, such as insomnia (difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep), restless legs syndrome, sleep-related breathing disorders associated with snoring, disturbed sleep–wake rhythms, parasomnias (e.g. sleepwalking), hypersomnias (excessive daytime sleepiness), including the specific condition of narcolepsy, as well as chronic fatigue syndrome.

Sleep laboratory examinations are carried out on an inpatient basis. For assessments in the home environment, portable devices are available. Following this, targeted therapy is initiated or recommended.

Enquiries regarding the Sleep Clinic are welcome and may be made via schlaf@STOP-SPAM.upk.ch.
