Therapy in Juvenile Forensics
The treatments offered by the Juvenile Forensics department of the Clinic for Forensics aims to reduce the symptoms of mental health disorders in young offenders, thereby reducing the risk of reoffending.
Treatment is tailored to each individual and addresses both their mental health condition and their offending behaviour. It is delivered in accordance with an individually designed treatment plan and is divided into three phases: assessment, treatment and discharge. Psychotherapy is provided on both an individual and group basis and is led by qualified professionals from the fields of psychology and child and adolescent psychiatry. The following forms of psychotherapy are available:
- Individual psychotherapy
- Group psychotherapy for adolescents who have engaged in sexually harmful behaviour (ThePaS)
- Group psychotherapy for adolescents who have engaged in violent behaviour (ART)
The psychotherapeutic approaches are based on systemic, cognitive behavioural and psychodynamic principles. All therapists are bound by professional confidentiality obligations. Where therapy has been ordered by the authorities, reports are sent to the commissioning authority at agreed intervals, in consultation with the young person and with their knowledge.
The interdisciplinary treatment team comprises professionals from the fields of psychology, medicine and social work.
