Depression in Older Adults
Do you have trouble sleeping, feel low or lack motivation? These symptoms can occur at any age, but in older people they often require age-specific assessment and treatment. The University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) Basel provide outpatient and inpatient care for older adults.
The Centre for Geriatric Psychiatry offers a wide range of outpatient services as well as inpatient units for assessment, acute treatment, nursing and social care. Physical causes of mental health conditions are also identified and treated.
Our Support
Depression and bipolar disorder are assessed and treated using a range of approaches, including psychotherapy and non-medication treatments in the Department of Affective Disorders.
Our outpatient services also support patients at home or in care settings, with the aim of maintaining independence for as long as possible. We also offer assessment, treatment and group psychotherapy for depression and addiction.
Our multidisciplinary teams include specialists in medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, nursing and social care. All treatments are tailored to the individual and supported by additional therapeutic services, which can be found on our German page here.
