Mother and Child
Have you recently become a mother but feel persistent sadness instead of joy? Are you anxious, irritable or unsure about your feelings toward your baby? Do you struggle to sleep even when your baby sleeps and find little enjoyment in things that usually make you happy?
We support mothers and their babies (under 1 year) through these challenges.
Our Support
UPK Basel offers inpatient treatment for mothers experiencing postnatal depression and/or anxiety. Your baby stays with you during your hospital stay.
Treatment promotes the mother–baby relationship, helping reduce the impact of depression or anxiety and supporting a long-term, healthy bond.
Our multidisciplinary team includes specialists in medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, nursing, social care and medical-therapeutic services. Each treatment plan is tailored to the mother’s needs and delivered through prompt, coordinated, multi-professional care.
For more information you can head to our Department of Depression and Crisis Intervention page, which is in German here.
