The Child and Adolescent Psychosomatic Unit is a joint service run by the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel (UPK) and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Baselland. It is part of the Paediatrics unit (Päd A3) at the University Children's Hospital Basel (UKBB). The unit has 12–16 beds for children and teenagers up to 18 years of age.

The Paediatrics A3 unit provides specialist care for children and adolescents with mental health and psychosomatic conditions. It offers comprehensive paediatric and psychiatric assessment, treatment and support for both young patients and their families. If there are concerns about physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, the unit can provide medical assessment and therapeutic support. When needed, it works closely with specialist departments at UKBB and the University Hospital Basel.

Admission is available for children and young people with mental health, psychosocial or psychosomatic difficulties that require assessment and/or treatment in an inpatient hospital setting. In most cases, an initial assessment appointment takes place before admission. However, urgent admissions can be arranged at any time when necessary.
