Early Intervention Outpatient Clinic BEATS (Basel Early Treatment Service)
The BEATS Early Intervention Service at UPK Basel provides assessment and treatment for young people (15–35) with early signs or first episodes of psychosis. Early support helps reduce long-term impacts such as chronic illness, disruption to work or education, relationship difficulties, social withdrawal and risk of self-harm.
Our Support
Individual Assessment and Support
We offer personalised outpatient assessment and follow-up, including:
- Comprehensive medical, psychiatric and psychological evaluation
- Individual risk assessment for developing psychosis
- Exclusion of other neurological conditions (e.g. EEG, MRI)
- Cognitive assessment (memory and concentration)
- Up to two years of specialist follow-up care
- Outpatient group therapy
Where appropriate, treatment is arranged in collaboration with you and your doctor.

We involve family members and close contacts (with your consent) to reduce the impact on relationships. Support includes:
- Information on psychosis, treatment and prevention
- Individual or family sessions
- Guidance on support services and self-help groups
