Personality Disorders
Do you often feel a deep inner emptiness? Struggle to control your emotions? Or experience intense but unstable relationships? Emotional regulation difficulties or personality disorders can affect both the individual and their close personal and professional relationships. The University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) Basel offers diagnosis and therapy.
Personality is made up of the traits and behaviours that shape who we are. Personality disorders involve rigid, inflexible traits that can make social and emotional life difficult. Around 10% of people are affected, making them one of the most common mental health conditions.
Personality disorders can lead to depression, anxiety or problematic use of alcohol, drugs or medication.
Our Support
UPK Basel offers a range of treatment options tailored to different levels of need. Outpatient services provide assessment and ongoing therapy in a flexible setting. Day clinic programmes deliver more intensive care while allowing patients to remain connected to their family and social environment. Inpatient treatment focuses on stabilising mental health and relieving acute symptoms within a structured and supportive surrounding.
Our multidisciplinary teams include specialists in medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, nursing, social care and medical-therapeutic services. All treatments are tailored to the individual and supported by additional therapeutic offerings, which can be found on our German page here.
