Heroin and Opioids - Substitution Treatments
Struggling to control your use of heroin or other opiates? Developed an addiction? In such cases, substitution treatment can help restore stability in your life. The University Psychiatric Clinics (UPK) Basel offer a range of services to support you.
UPK Basel specialises in substitution treatments for heroin and other opioid addictions. The outpatient service at the Addiction Clinic (SAM) is for patients who, alongside their opioid addiction, have psychological, physical or social challenges. Treatment costs are covered by health insurance.
Our Support
We provide outpatient treatment with pharmaceutical heroin (Diaphin®). SAM is one of 23 centres in Switzerland offering this specific therapy. We treat patients with heroin addiction who are at high risk or already socially excluded due to their circumstances or behaviour.
Additionally, UPK Basel offers specialised consultations for patients needing advice and treatment for psychoactive substance use.
Substitution treatments include comprehensive psychiatric, psychological, somatic and social care.
Our multidisciplinary team include experts in medicine, psychology, psychotherapy, nursing, social services and medical-therapeutic care. Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs, with additional support services available that can be found on our German page here.
