Primary Nursing

Mental health is an integral part of our overall health. At the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel (UPK Basel), our staff accompany, advise and support people in managing their mental health conditions, while promoting their independence and drawing on their individual skills and knowledge. We treat everyone as an equal, with dignity, appreciation and respect, aswell as recognise and uphold each person’s personal integrity. The wellbeing and quality of life of our patients are at the heart of everything we do. We foster an open culture of communication with everyone involved in the care process. In delivering care, we take into account current scientific evidence, patients’ wishes, the professional experience of our nursing staff and economic considerations. This enables us to provide care that is both person-centred and evidence-based. Our staff carefully document developments and changes relating to patients, taking into account patients’ rights as well as professional standards, responsibilities and obligations. Our care is complemented by close and coordinated collaboration with internal and external specialists, other clinics aswell as a range of institutions and organisations.
