The Ecumenical Centre is a place for meeting, conversation and quiet reflection. It provides a space for everyone to meditate, pray, make music, write, read or simply reflect. The large hall hosts a weekly service as well as events throughout the year. A smaller “Quiet Room” provides a peaceful space for contemplation. The centre also houses the offices of the Roman Catholic and Reformed Protestant chaplaincies.

Services
A public service is held every Sunday at 10 am in the centre’s large hall. The service is open to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation.

Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy at UPK Basel is ecumenical and is available to everyone, regardless of religious or denominational affiliation. It is provided by the Reformed Protestant chaplaincy, represented by Pastor Andreas Zenger, and the Roman Catholic chaplaincy, represented by pastors Simone Di Gallo and Gabriele Kieser (services and BeKuMi). Working together with everyone involved in supporting patients and promoting their wellbeing, we offer conversation and support to people both within and outside the clinics. Chaplaincy also includes rituals that create space to explore fundamental questions about human existence on a symbolic level. In addition to baptisms and weddings, pastoral conversations may lead to rituals of reconciliation, remembrance, farewell and other forms of blessing. At the request of families, we also organise memorial services for patients who have died, as well as for relatives and staff members.

The Ecumenical Centre is open all day and is located on the ground floor of Building L.
